Lake Starnberg 2015 Course

Designer: Dean Lowdon

Course Description:

Situated on the banks of one of Germany's largest lakes Lake Stanberg is a spectacular alpine course that, with a length in excess of 7300 yards, offers a good test of a golfers long iron play. This 2015 redesign moves the course closer to tour standard.

Member Reviews:

I really enjoyed my round on this course. The basic design is very pastoral and naturally looking. The fundamentals of that golf course (bunkers, blending, etc.) have been implemented absolutely adequately , and the hole layout is quiet varying.

The signature hole to me was definitely Hole #5 with that stunning Island Green. Really nicely done!

Points of criticism? Well... the greens could be a bit more challenging, no matter what skill level actually is playing the course. And please, please, please... do not put a whale into a/the lake on an Alpine Course (as I saw around the Green of Hole #17).

Summary: Lake Starnberg is definitely one of the best Alpine Courses I've played so far! You really should give it a try! In it's current state, I'd say this is a perfect tour venue for one of the Middle Europe tour events on the lower tours!
