A technical masterpiece! Thoughtful course design at its finest.Reviewed by: James Moon on 4/9/2015
What an impression this course left on me. Time after time I kept thinking that was some of the most clever design work that I've encountered. Everything from planning where on the fairway I should try to land my drives to avoid contending with trees on my approach, to tucking pins back in corners that would force you to take risky shots over water to try and stick it close. I faced several decisions as to to take an aggressive drive to a bunker riddled landing area, or to ease up and hit a shorter wood, knowing that I would be forced to play a long iron or 5 wood to carry the green. The course really shined with its required tight flight paths to the green, forcing you to utilize shot shaping to compensate for the wind instead of aiming off to the side and letting the wind do the work for you, as trees often made it impossible to do so.
The course also had an understated beauty to it. Nicely placed bridges to traverse areas of water. The planting was used in moderation, enough to give it a nice appearance, but in no way overly done with elegant but unnecessary floral bouquets. Each hole felt unique. I was even impressed with the way the course's softness was counterbalanced by smaller greens.
The only things I felt that weren't perfect is that there could have been a little more variation in hole distances, and the greens were often not very challenging. I can't put my finger off it, but there was just a subtle lack of overall WOW factor.
Fantastic course! Should be given immediate consideration for event use. Probably a really good one for the web.com guys, as I think the higher tiers could probably beat it up.
