Barren Valley Club is located in a secluded valley at the foot of the rolling hills of the East Appalachians in central-western Virginia. Once a massive wind farm, most of the turbines have now been removed, but four remain, and the farm still operates with employees that have housing on the premises off the 18th hole. Native grasses and small hills dot the valley, with few trees, which affords many beautiful sight lines from hole to hole.
The player that is accurate and aggressive off the tee will be rewarded with shorter approaches from better angles. The conservative player off the tee will have to be an excellent iron player to get consistently good looks at birdie. For the shorter hitter, most greens will accept a rolling approach shot.
